so I saw a new taco on CL and it said 22 inch but the vent was adjacent to the handle like an 18 not in line. so all new kettles are set like this

All new taco handle 22" have the vent on the front of a horizontal handle and the thermo on the other side of the handle. But, Euro spec 22" and 26" taco handle kettles have the thermo on the same location but the vent 90 deg to the thermo not 180 deg.

Correct.  New 22.5 kettles moved the vent  position...it is now the same as the 18...and the thermometer is on the opposite side of the vent
