Cajun bandit door never ceases to amaze
« on: March 18, 2017, 02:01:41 PM »
Maybe it's just in my head but ever since I installed the cb door, the wsm works like I always thought it should. It's 40 degrees here and I have had all vents wide open and it's steady at 250. Before I got the door I would struggle with run away temps with all vents cracked. I bought mine second hand and latch was loose so if your stock door works good for you than don't bother but if you have an old one that struggles, get the door.  I'm doing a butt today.

Pretty awesome Hoosier. You also smoke on the kettle right? I continually struggle internally if I should try to find a CL WSM or just stick to the indirect kettle. That pork butt looks soooooo juicy.

Glad to hear the cb door was what you needed to make that work and you're enjoying it now. I'm still on the lookout for one. Looks good bud.

I injected this one. First time trying that. Also this was the best looking butt in raw form that I have cooked yet. Hopefully that will translate to better result.  Yes I still smoke on the kettles frequently.  Both are fantastic.  My preference is a 26 kettle. Best all around imo. I'll be honest, I wouldn't use a wsm without the door upgrade over any kettle.

As I've read in other posts, the CB door makes it fool proof. How much longer till that butt is ready? It's probably a 3 hour drive for me to your area.

We took a family trip to hocking hills about 7 or 8 years ago. It was in august and during one of the hundred year floods. We were in a tent. It was a long night.

It could have been longer but I'm sure you remember that year.

That would have sucked but we gotta make the best out of the worst. Today I put a new sump pump in the basement. Woke up to water down there again. It's all good though, tomorrow is baby back rib day!

Dang, hopefully it wasn't too bad. Can't beat a baby back day.

Got it wrapped and waiting.

Hey guys, question is the door worthless without the $25 latch?

The door alone is $31, the latch is $25 together it is $47 if you buy as a until.

They have scratch and dent doors for $21 without the latch, can I just buy the door alone?  or is it worthless without the latch.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Get the latch with the door!!  They really shouldn't even make that an option.  I wouldn't bother with the door without it. The latch is so nice the way it draws the door up tight. Very good question because I forgot you could order the door without it.  They work together perfectly.

My only experience is with the old wsm latch. I have no idea if the new wsm latch is good or how well it would work with the door.  But if there is any doubt, get the latch.
