Are you talking about your early 70's kettle?  If so, that would ruin it. The original "peel" and some fading add to the character and value imo.

Let this be the object that you use to start relaxing those OCD's...and it would probably be cheaper to buy a new grill. m Oh yeah, Welcome to the Nuthou..I mean club!!

I don't know? I was just looking into the possibility of making it predict again. But it sounds like it's best to leave her just as is and give her a good bath and call it good which I will do. Thanks for the advice.

I think someone here mentioned about getting a kettle re-enameled several months ago, and I believe the price they were quoted was around $600 bucks.

I'd personally leave it alone.  It's a good looking kettle.

If it really bothers you, you can spray it with some Pam a couple times a year.  (@Travis's fleetwood is a good example.)

On this note, the ranch I just purchased has some light scratches on the lid. I too like my stuff to look nice, I work across from a guy that does auto painting and going to see if he can buff out the scratches.. they aren't deep so we'll see...

Somewhat related for those with exposed metal.

I recently dropped my lid on concrete (whoops...). The lip had some exposed metal. What I did was take some crisco shortening and apply generously to the exposed part. The next time I grilled I left the exposed part with crisco on it over the coals for a while after I was done (not sure if this part is necessary).

When it was all said and done the exposed part was now black and "seasoned" if you will. Not sure how long it will last, but I'll keep an eye on it.
