2007 Black Performer with Gas Assist
« on: January 11, 2017, 04:13:25 PM »
I was looking for decent priced Performer with Gas Assist and more after missing the Orlando Deal (50 bucks for GA performer with weber Rotisserie- it was close to 2 hours drive).

Today i scored single owner - always under shade and covered performer for $30 with some leftover Stubbs charcoal in excellent condition. 1 of the Charcoal basket is almost gone, but i already have the Steel ones.

As per owner - Propane starter is not working , so I will need help from you all to help me fix.

Here are some pics

Great find!
That's my personal favorite model of performer.
As far as the gas assist, it probably just needs a good cleaning. If there's too much gunk in the tube the spark won't spark. Clean out the tube and lightly sand the connections. Worst case scenario you might need a new igniter, but usually just cleaning them works.
If you search you'll probably find some threads with pictures
Good luck and congratulations!

Here's a link to a tread that maybe describes the process better
There might even be better ones out there

Also, maybe a more obvious question, does the tank have gas in it? 😀

I bought this Venturi brush to clean the tube on mine.

I then used a bicycle pump to blow out the ash and debri. In my case my regulator was bad and replaced under warranty. If you take the regulator off and with a fresh bottle of fuel hear and smell propane then the regulator is probably fine.

Thank you @WNC and @kettlebb .

I just opened the regulator to full , press the igniter and voila !!! It fired up. I think issue was too much Ash before , which after quick cleanup made it work like charm.

Now only thing left is to cleanup the Kettle for daily use.

Out of 5 or so Performers that didn't ignite initially all but one fired up after cleaning out the tube or making sure the connections were seated properly on the ignititor

Great score. My area seems to be performer dry. They almost never pop up and are $200 when they do.

I have a 2007 gas assist Performer I picked up a few years ago at a pawn shop for $85.  It had a bent lid and handle but I was able to pop the dent out and somewhat get the handle straight.  It has a new metal table courtesy of Weber CS.

Enjoy yours, you got a heck of a deal.
