The one leg is stuck in the socket, and it's caddywhumpus. I've soaked it with penetrant & tried heating the socket. Still stuck. Do I just need to give it time?

You were patient waiting for it to arrive …. So, be patient with this.  Just sayin'.  I'm sure it will work out.

Perhaps if you got it glowing red hot …. You never know.  ??? :o ;D ;D ;) ;)
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Ok! I'll wait.  Another question. How do I get the wheels off?

I got no idea about how to get the leg out, but straight love the character and history this kettle must carry with all those battle scars!
If kettles could talk...
Congratulations! Can't wait to see some restored cooks!

I read somewhere on here about someone painting their lid and using high temp clear. Would it be possible to just clear coat the bowl and let all the battle scars shine through?

I was hoping to see a LOT more pics of this grill because I have a special appreciation for used & abused kettles.

In my opinion some grills are best left untouched without restoration because molesting them would be disrespectful. Restoring this one could be a mistake.

Just wondering. Are you thinking of painting that baby to hide the pitting and rust on the bowl?

I got a crappy old yellow grill I wanted to preserve so I cleaned the inside well enough to use it and used it. After that I cleaned the ash & grease out and put it in a dry and difficult spot to reach in my garage.

@Darko - If the only place you have for it is under a tree in your yard then maybe it would be better if I kept it in my garage for you ;)

Congrats on the find.  Very cool piece of Weber history!
