So long story short I posted a MBH here on the online finds forum. After reading the guys ad, several members pointed out that he said, "can also be used as a fire pit." I just couldn't have that. After several texts and a buddy who lives in Ventura later, the kettle is now resting peacefully here at the Vwbuggin home. This the oldest (and furtherest) kettle I have ever gotten. Can't wait to cook on it

Because I work odd hours I had time to kill before bed, so I cleaned up the ash pan, straightened the vent tabs, and cleaned the inside. Can't wait to fire her up. If anyone has older wheels they will part with so I can put them on this 78, let me know.

You and I know that statement won't last for long. ;)

One of the guys I work with is Navy and lives out there. He commutes up here for 4 days then drives home. He picked it up for me and his first day back was yesterday

Looks like it's in decent shape. I think my one and only 3 wheeler is a 78.

Zooming in on that lid vent, I can make out the engraved registered "R" trademark of the WEBER logo. Looks like you landed yourself a 1977! Btw, those wheels are period correct. Unless you absolutely want older style wheels put on it. 1978 is the modern style wide turn tab wth the raised WEBER logo similar to today's kettles. Great looking black MBH!

Awesome a 77! That makes me even happier! Definitely the oldest kettle I have owned to date. I understand those are period correct wheels, but I love the look of the mid 70s wheels on a kettle. Thanks for all the help and Ill update my profile with "77"!
