How to store Charcoal?
« on: August 19, 2016, 09:52:52 AM »
Hi everyone, I am fairly new to the Weber grilling scene. I was wondering what the best way and place to store my charcoal. Right now its just sitting my garage with the bag opened on one end. Also do you guys change how you store it for the winter? I have been using Kingsford briquettes and Royal Oak Lump.
Thanks.

I plan on grilling through winter, just wondering on how to store it, if it is different than the summer months

I just leave my open bags sitting on my patio opened, but then again its really dry here in AZ.  Even if it gets rained on, it is dry within half a day.  If I lived in a more humid climate (I used to live in MD) I would definitely keep the bag as closed as possible except for when I am pouring coals out of it.  My unopened bags are stacked nicely under my desk in my office/spare bedroom.  If I was keeping opened bags in my garage in a humid climate I would get a Tupperware bin or a bucket with a lid to keep it in.

I use a downsized galvanized garbage can that is sold for storing birdseed.

Nothing special for storage. Just keep it dry. It doesn't have an expiration date. Not being a smartass, just really no worries.
