Picked this up today. Looking for some help on what year and color. The lid has a "c" on it witch makes it a 1981. But the bowl has metal handles. Any help would be great thanks.

Golly

handles look weird on bowl
how about another pic of the bowl handle
GET ON THAT SHIT
WONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER

I thought B was the last year for MBH, but maybe you have an older bowl with a C lid.

Interesting for sure.
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

Ok. does anybody known what color it might be?

I'd assume that model-year changes aren't smooth events. Surely there are times that there's a few old bowls hanging around and they've run out of lids. Or vice-versa.

I have an M-code lid with N-code bowl vents. Probably a similar situation. Or maybe the owner accidentally (or purposefully) switch lids/bowls. Who knows?

Faded black.

The lid could be a warranty replacement?

Slang

Thanks for all the feed back. Is there a way to tell the year on the bowl besides the vents and handles.

Also picked this up a few weeks ago at a yard sale.

That is a faded black "Texan".

"1981 was the first year for wooden bowl handles and at first all three were still double riveted. Very early on in 81 they began to transition over to single screw (The One. The Only. slogan) handles. Some had riveted lid handle/single screw bowl or vice versa." This is a quote from the WKC historian.   You may have a real early 1981 kettle there with MBH's or it could be that the lid was warrantied sometime after a MBH kettle was produced and Weber sent the owner a 1981 lid.  Let's see what @Craig (WKC Historian) take on it is.

Here is a thread with pictures and discussions of the many possible handle combinations for C Code (1981) kettles.

BTW, the yard sales in your area are spectacular.

Pretty cool way to make an entrance. Man, I just dig these old grills with the daisey wheelers and mbh's.

Well, great finds for sure and Welcome from Il!
