4th of July Charcoal sales
« on: July 01, 2016, 07:54:34 AM »
Heads up Stubbs fans! Lowe's (at least in Omaha, hopefully nation wide) has Stubbs 14 lb bag briquettes for $5.99, regularly $12.99 each. It was time to stock up on the Stubbs.. I always love the stares I get when I have on a WKC shirt and a cart load of just charcoal, eight bags worth this time. Basically two for the price of one.

Show us your loot! Doesn't matter the brand, what deals are YOU finding and/or stocking up on? :)

I've been using this, made by Royal Oak.
Not quite as good as Stubbs, but the local grocery store had it for $3.99 a bag this week (20# bag). Picked up 6 bags.

Craig, I felt that way too as I noticed I could have saved $5 more bucks over the $10 coupon I originally used. I ordered 9 more bags once Dazzo made me aware of the coupon for $15, as I figured the price will likely never be better and I have the room.

You could always order online with the coupon then return what you bought.

So, like I'm rotating my stock and noticed Stubb's is now made by Duraflame.

vs.

Not that it matters that the Duraflame is a pound lighter than the Cowboy Stubb's $5.99 is a great price!

Home Despot has the Embers briqs for $5.99 looks similar to the Best Choice @firedude5015 posted. I'm thinking of trying some at that price as well.

Anybody got any Rancher left?

Down to my last 6 bags!

Variety is the spice of life!  Now I need some Lump love!!

@swamprb Iv'e heard the Embers is the same stuff...I think Royal oak does a lot of store brand deals. the one I use is pretty good, nice clean smoke, not quite as much ash as KBB, but still not as good as Stubbs IMO

@charred. Don't know if you've tried cowboy yet, but there was a discussion about it. I haven't had good luck with it.

I've been swimming against the "Cowboy Sucks" tide for a couple years now.

I'm alone in my experience, apparently. When it was clearanced at HD a couple yrs ago I bought about 20 bags and had no trouble, and found only 1 non-charcoal thing in 1 bag. You can read my testimonials if you search on the BBQ Brethren site.  ;)

It sparks a lot and it may take a little longer to calm down.

I just picked up 9-bags of the Stubb's too. I'll probably get some more, before the sale ends. Now, I'm really hoping to see the Royal Oak lump go on sale, so I can load up on that too! Cowboy and Royal Oak are easy to find around here. Gonna hold out for the RO

@charred. I'm glad to hear that it has worked for you. In my experience the bags have been loaded with a lot of the unusable small, air cloggers. I just gave up.
