Brown Weber attick find
« on: July 01, 2016, 04:34:59 AM »
Hey guys,

Look what I found this week on a dutch version of eBay.

I called the seller and she said her husband bought it in 1979 and it was used no more than 4 times max. She wanted to clear the attick because her house was for sale. She had posted the ad for 3 times already but listeded it in the accessoiris section.... luckily she had no responders before I saw the ad this week. I went to check it out and bought it imediatly, it came with coalracks, ash dish and a (not Weber?) Skewerset/ribrack.

Because it wasn't used a lott she said she would not sell it cheap, all included it had to be €50,- / $55,-  I think I got a steal!

Some shots after a very short clean, I realy believe it was only used 4 times.

Back home I did some research. It's a '79 A-code 22 inch Kettle with flat rim ash dish. I have a few questions I hope you can answer.

Is this a coppermist or a choclate Brown?
Is this model/size nicknamed the Warrior?
Is this a rare find? In Europese for sure but in general?

My intentions are to start cooking on it, probably upgrade it with a cast Iron GBS grate and enjoy it for years to come, a nice adition to my Weber family.

Thnx for reading my vintage Weber story!

I actually think those might be Weber accessories.  I think they made something similar.  Coppermist, chocolate, brownie, warriors, whatever it's called it's a really nice find.  Maybe not the rarest grill ever but in that condition is a really nice grill.  In Europe that is a major score.....

That's a beautiful brownie!
Can't seem to link it correctly, but @Craig explains in another discussion the color being produced from 69- 91. Early on they were a copper mist and then changing in the mid seventies being called a chocolate/ brownie.

That looks mint. Absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations that is an awesome find! To answer your question, by 1979 they were no longer named " warrior" and copper mist was technically changed over to be called chocolate brown by then but like Brian said no matter what it's called it's basically the same color as it was when it was "copper mist-The Warrior". that is one gorgeous brownie!

Holy crap!  It doesn't look like an unused kettle, but I doubt it was used more than 5 times.  One hell of a find!
