On Thursday a big ass box was left on my porch Wifey said it was a late Fathers Day Gift.

This was what was in the box.

I've had my eye on one of these for a couple years but couldn't pull the trigger.  This attachment is no joke.  It's well built if not over built.  It weighs 30 pounds which got me thinking about the Kettles stability with that much weight on top of it.  Stability was no problem though.  Here's a couple more pics.

No better way to test a Santa Maria grill then Tri Tip right?
Seasoning EVO+SnP

Full chimney dumped 3/4 onto the grate, 2 splits of Red Oak on the coal bed and the rest of the coals on top the splits.

On they go.

Just about done.

One hour and twenty minutes later.

The one I sliced was just a tad over cooked.  Pulled at 130 deg.  The other Tri Tip which was a pound heavier was perfect.
One more thing.  Probably wouldn't want to use this on a kettle you'd like to keep pristine.  Very high heat that may cause crazing. Here's the website in case you'd like some more info.    http://gabbysgrills.com/shop/home/

Thanks for looking.

There's one of these in my future.

Does it happen to disassemble or fold flat for storage?  Will have to figure out how to store it...

Sorry, this thing don't fold.  Yup, storage is an issue for me also.  I'm just gonna let it sit on the kettle and buy a cheap HD cover for it.

I've been eyeballing those as well. Talk about an eye catcher at a party.
Looks like they used some beefy angle iron for it and some thick gauge expanded metal for the grates.
Thanks for the close ups. Tri tips were a perfect break in.

Perfect!

I've been borrowing one, but I'll have my own.

Grab one of your old cooking grates and use that for the coals and wood.

Spreads the heat out and saves the kettle...

Let us know what you think of doing that.

Dude, relax your chicken.

Nice cook! Ive seen those for sale here (in Santa Maria) on craigslist alot. I was going to pull the trigger also, but then somethings diverted my attention and well, it fell by the wayside. Maybe sometime someday. Looks great though.

That's a awesome setup, Fedex.  Tritips look great.  How much do they weigh each?  I don't think I have seen them that big around  KC.
