Performer kettle question
« on: April 25, 2016, 10:48:37 PM »
Since I have never seen a Performer in person....
Does the kettle have brackets attached to it to hold it to the cart?
OR
Does the cart have curved brackets that hold the kettle in place.

What I want to really know is 'can any 22 kettle be used in a Performer cart'?

Yes and No

Performer based kettles do have 2 brackets spot welded in place.

But there have been members here that have had brackets fabricated and others have drilled or popped off the spot welds and reusing the brackets.

I took a rustbucket Platinum and reused the brackets and mounted a Master-Touch kettle in its place.

I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Or get some 1" aluminum angle and make my own brackets.
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

Ahhhh, yes !!!

That is what I was looking for.

I am going to make my own cart and was wondering if the kettle could actually just sit 'in" the cart.

I think the brackets riveted on looks good.

@Gpinch1 check out the old Seville bowl tabs. The look just like the short tabs the grates sit on and keep the bowl sitting still in the round cutout.

Just had a look at the Seville bowl tabs. That's an even cleaner option.
Thanks
