Finished the 1989 red fade, upside down "L" - One Touch Plus
« on: March 17, 2016, 11:15:12 AM »
Craigslist find. 1st day - "nice grill, pretty fade, but I don't need it." 2nd day -  "it's still there huh?" 3rd day "just go buy it already." The gentleman was in his 70's I would say and said he was selling it for his Dad. I don't think it was used much. It had the normal rusted triangle, weathered legs, wheels and handles, but I'm guessing it lived it's life under a covered patio. Porcelain has to be close to 98-99%

New ash pan. I'll only subject myself to the punishment of cleaning a twist pan.

If these are the original grates I can only imagine they cooked hot dogs or something on this  :)

1st time redoing the wheels with the plastic white walls on them. Built up the white walls with primer, then semi gloss white. Wheels got satin black. The white walls are so brittle, I thought they were just going to crumble at some point while taking them apart....

He threw in one o those old-school electric charcoal starters too. May have to give it a go for nostalgia purposes.

HOLY SHIT....YOU HAVE GRASS IN YOUR BACKYARD!!!!!???????   Hehe...Really nice grill.  The handles look great.  It looks like you gave them a light sanding then refinished them so that they still have a bit of a weathered look.  I need to have the AZ crew over to my place for a meetup/azmonsoon lid vent shining demonstration!

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Nice work! Looks like new.  Not much fade on this grill.  I like it better like that anyways.

Yeah man. I didn't plan on the handles looking distressed. They just ended up that way.  Just sanded with 250 grit, three or four coats of cherry stain, 3 coats of poly, a little rub down with #0000 steel wool and then Howard's wax n' feed over the top.

Howard's products are awesome by the way. I use them on 60's - 70's speaker cabinets fairly often. Available at Home Depot.
