With the weather warming up early here in Nebraska and the rest of the Midwest, it was time to yank a grill out of hibernation and slap on a new set of handles I got from Brian recently, thanks again Brian!
1981 C code red 22.5 a grail I picked up last summer. Still need to clean up below the waist but she serves as an excellent cooker.
Original handles.... This '81 is a "single screwer" I have a black and dark blue 81
C codes that are the double rivet style. These were the "The One The Only" stamped version.
This has to be one of the brighter red kettles I own. A close second is my 79 A code. Here it is last summer with the dark blue.
Posing with the 79 A code.
Next to my 1970 PAT PENDING. Reds got much brighter and more vibrant by the early 80s.
Finally got to put on the new handles today. These are the replicas of the original "one the only" with the two rivet shape bottom and later single screw top. Finished in a medium walnut. Got a fresh set of double rivet for the black C code. More on that one later. Kettle appears much darker here as I was heating it up for lunch as I snapped these photos.
Crooked C's. Now I need to check my blue and black ones to see if the C's were caddywampus..
Thanks for looking!
