A couple weeks ago, when I was at the mini meet-up,
@Troy sent me home with this sweet lil red, thanks Troy! There is no vent code, but he figured it was probably a 78. I swiped the legs and triangle from my "A" code black that I picked up last year. I worked on this, off and on, since I brought it home and put it all together last night. I am very pleased with how it cleaned up!
The bowl all cleaned up...
The lid was more difficult to clean, but the trusty razor blade won in the end!
The handle was very weathered and gray. I spent about 15 minutes with some 220 grit to smooth it up, before applying some dark walnut stain that I already had. Three coats of varnish has it looking pretty sharp. The top vent was worked over with 220 grit, 0000 steel wool and finally some aluminum polish. I was amazed at how well it turned out.
The color is a very brilliant red. Some of the pics make it look a bit orange, but that's just the camera and lighting. I plan on taking some more pics, later today, once the sun isn't so bright
Here is a group shot of all my cookers. The new-to-me red, really puts some much needed color to my patio!
