first run of the WEBER basket minion
« on: February 18, 2015, 05:11:54 PM »
so I loaded it with a combo of old coals and new coals, leaving an area on one end to put lit coals in
the pic is how I set it, I added 3 or 4 more coals. I lit 8 coals and poured them in the end

,

I was using apple wood chunks

If we were meant to grill with gas then the garden of Eden would have had a pipeline

so how did they work?

excellent they held temp.very little messing with them
my cook took a bit to heat up and stabilize, about 1/2 hour, then I set them on for 3 hours, I had a KC rub I make up on them, added a few applewood chunks during this time.
I took them off and mopped on BBQ sauce and then wrapped in heavy tin foil and set back on the grill for 2 hours, every thing is staying around 230.
I then took off the foil for 30 minutes of setting the sauce, at this time I opened the vents

I still had a small amount of coals after 5 1/2 hours so I choked it off when I pulled the ribs
