Great score! I rescued 1 similar for a family members pool cabana area over the summer. Probably still be in use 30 years from now.

i'm not sure if the metal is any thicker, i'm sure someone knows, and will post it.  i suspect it may be. 

but the paint is thicker, that i have noticed.  my '14 had just enough paint to cover the lid. 
I only use kettles with lid bales.

I believe the old metal was a smidge thicker.....the coating was for sure....

Ed Reilly weighed a bunch of different sizes & models, new & old & most all the old ones were heavier.....the 26" I think, was about the same.....
