26.75 agh catcher pan

2015 Weber 16401001 Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill, 26-Inch, Black.
I noticed in the photo on Amazon that the ash catcher/and damper handle appears to be on the opposite side of the grill. I already know of the two upgrades to the design, but did they switch sides for access and control? I spoke to Weber on the phone but couldn't get an answer. I know I work these grills with the lid open and to the left side, would be horrible to have to walk around this beast to make damper adjustments.

Hi Barry,

You can install the ash catcher ring and bucket to face either way so you could match it up to your 14'

I believe the ash sweep handle is pre-installed, and the new ash can ring only installs one way….to match up with the open/close vent on the bottom of the kettle? Please tell me I'm wrong but the picture shows a different story

You can disassemble the sweep mechanism and arm and move it to the other side

Is that a new part number for 2015?
I've noticed they refer to it as 26".
Have they changed the diameter for 2015?

Weber 16401001 is the model number for the 2015 26.75" diameter kettle. Size hasn't changed, just looks like they built the ash sweep backwards and they have new wheels.

Thanks for the options and replies on this post, hate to see the ash sweep end up backwards if the handle was switched.  If I could swing it I'd get the Ranch Kettle and play with all 3 dampers with a smile.
