So I've noticed that my deck is getting stains from my utensils hanging from my performer. Anyone else have this issue? Occasionally my dog will help by licking the utensils for me  :o but otherwise they just drip onto the deck. I only noticed this past weekend that it is staining. I've thought about fabbing up a piece of stainless steel into a drip tray and attaching it to the bottom shelf.

The other day my tongs flew open and hit the side by the gas tank and smeared it. I guess I haven't noticed dripping. Do you cook with BBQ sauce or ?
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Occasionally there are sauces. But really almost everything has some kind of liquid that will attach to the tongs or spatula and ultimately drip once hung.

During the cook when my utensils are working, I lay them on a tray or paper towel.
Then clean them up for next cook.
The wife does complain about the occasional spots on the pavers, though.

Tim, you can probably get a small stainless pan from a restaurant supply store that is well sized to catch your drippings. It should look great once mounted.

This could also stop those occasionally dropped red hot coals too.

I see those BBQ mats everywhere , might work for this situation . I use a sheet pan or cutting board most of the time and usually lay the tools on it while cooking .

A mat won't work because I often move my kettles around on the deck. :)

I usually lay mine on the table, on a paper towel because of that.

Then I don't see an issue , as long as the spots are distributed over the entire deck, people will think it's supposed to be that way :)

I use rubber car mats (the smaller ones for the rear), they are easily moved and work great.

You obviously don't have dogs.

I can't leave my tongs on the hooks or they become VERY clean if I turn my back.
