Maybe I could make these, and just cut the handles in half......

Do NOT cut them in half.  Most of the charm is that it is a normal handle.

I wonder if there is another kind of hardware piece instead of a screw that is slightly more elegant but just as simple.  (Not that Gummi's idea is not pure genius, it is).

Actually there is. A thin strip of metal that attaches to the existing bolt hole and has a tab to pop open the cap if that makes any sense. I don't have said strip of metal lying around though.

Brilliant!

So now we can finally use a Weber church key for the beers iced down in our Weber Chill electric cooler, lit by Weber lanterns, hanging out by our Weber firepit, in a modified Alton Brown Weber bar stool. keeping the mosquitos away with our Weber Web bug zappers while we grill on our vintage Happy Cookers?

Darn shame none of that stuff is made anymore.  A Weber produced bottle opener (if in the shape of a lid and well made) would definitely hang on my key ring.

If someone, anyone, can fit this in their tagline......they should !!!!
"If you want it fancy there is BBQ spray paint at home depot for that. "
    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

Exactly what I had in mind.

Heyjude

He stole the idea. Sorry L. Someone posted a pic of an opener that was made with a special Screw Post type of hardware. A lot more elegant.  I kind of have my own ideas on one.
So, any enterprising folks gonna make one this weekend? I double dare someone!
Actually, this is Brain all the way!  8)

Yeah, there are tons of versions of this. Some with a nail, screw, penny, you name it. If I wanted elegant I wouldn't have started with a rotted handle lol.

Don't worry. I got one.

Sent from another planet using Mental Telepathy.

If it breathes, we can cook it!

Nice, Jocool. You can hang that up on tool holders too.
