Ever have a kettle blow over?
« on: April 29, 2013, 08:08:34 PM »
The wind is picking up here and I just heard my 26r shift a bit on the back deck.

I've never had a kettle tip, but my kettles were usually sitting against a railing (and there were 8 of them on my 10 x 12 deck.

I'm not super worried right now - but how much wind would it really take to tip a kettle?

sidenote: anyone seen the tornado video where the weber kettle goes tumbling?

Keep an eye on them. We had high winds for a week straight and my storage was starting to give in toward the end. We need to find that video clip again.

I have some pictures of the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa AL, last year.  They are of a hardware store that was destroyed-no one hurt in the store- but a total loss.  It looked like someone put a giant blender in the store and pushed purée.  Everything was scrambled, except the Webers.  They even still had the owners manuels in them.  I will find them and post it when I can.

I usually huddle them around the deck with heavier ones on the outside (gasser, Performer.) I've also set a brick or two on the bottom rack (wheel level) for some extra weight.

This is particularly a concern with covered grills because they'll catch more wind.
kettles, smokers...

The indestructable Weber, built to last.  What ever the weather, it's a Weber.
