Will it fit?!?!?!
« on: June 13, 2016, 02:49:13 AM »
I have a master touch Weber. Will a beer can chicken fit under the lid?
Another question is what size vortex will work best?

For beer can or vertical chicken remove the cooking grate and  use a medium Vortex with the wide side up. The chicken stands on the lower (charcoal) grate, inside of the Vortex.
Your coals go around the outside  of the Vortex.
See the Vortex website for more info.

Cook it in the basement (on the charcoal grate).  Will fit no problem.

Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?

I use to do them on the grill grates, but had too make sure it wasn't too big. They'll fit either way. Looks like doing it on the charcoal grate will be much easier though.

Drink the beer, spatchcock that chicken.

Violating that chicken doesn't do anything for moisture or flavor.

To be honest I found that wet brining gives it plenty of moisture. For one to two chicken basic brine, I use one gallon of water, 1/2 cup of kosher salt, 2/3 cups of brown sugar. For added flavor I use one onion sliced or chopped, 2 tbsp of granulated garlic powder and a tbsp of dry rosemary. Fresh rosemary is best. Let sit overnight.
