It's a 'B' for Brave
« on: February 28, 2013, 09:57:15 PM »
Picked this up of eBay the other week . Starting price $5. Contacted the seller to see if they had a Buy It Now price . They replied with $40. I replied with $20. They replied with $30 . I replied with box her up and I'll take it. It does need a new handle which is in production at the moment( care of you know who)and a couple of chips in the lid but apart from that its in great nick, this is the first 18 I've seen over here with the metal bowl handles and double rivet handle so I'm pretty stoked to get it. Tried explaining this to my wife and her eyes glazed over after I said 'It has'
This is how it arrived, gotta love it when someone goes to the effort of wrapping a kettle correctly

And here it is after a make over . I used some 0000 steel wool and turtle rubbing compound. Thanks for tips guys. The triangle only had a slight bit of surface rust so didnt bother spraying it

I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Hogsy...I've NEVER seen anything packaged like that before.  Are boxes extinct down there???  Anyways...COOL grill, I like it!  A brown 18 doesn't come around very often, even here in the States!

Wow.  That looks good.  Maybe a dog or some rodent chewed on the handle.  ;D

Packaging is weird , but I gotta say it arrived unblemished , usually the seller wraps a loose piece of bubble wrap around the kettle with a bit of cello tape and its off to the post office even though you've paid them extra to wrap it
I used everyone's tips on here for the clean up, 0000 steel wool and some turtle rubbing compound
I also have a bench grinder setup with a cutting wheel and a polishing wheel but this kettle didn't need that treatment
Aussie definition of Great nick- to be in good condition or in great shape
Yeah the handles a bit rough, I don't think it was a wallaby and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a dog, I know
A Dingo ate my handle!!!!!!
