Saving a puckerbutt EO Code Outrider

Whoever bought this poor grill back in 1995 (it's an EO vent code) installed it's legs upside down making it look very strange and making it's footprint incredibly narrow and dangerous as it would be pretty top-heavy loaded with lit coals and meat.
History of the Smokey Joe Platinum (AKA Jumbo Joe or Outrider) – Introduced in 1990 from the Weber Kettle Club
After unsticking the rusted on bolts with pb-blaster and replacing all of the hardware with stainless bolts, sanding down the wood handle and applying three coats of teak oil, adding side vents and cleaning her up she's looking mighty spiffy.

Be a perfect beach grill. Low enough not to raise attention from the po po.
Enough space to cook for a decent crowd with a cast iron pan or direct grill fish, chicken, steaks, burgers, dogs.

The incorrect leg installation was hilarious - you're right in the safety part tho. I wonder how many cooks fell over in a gentle breeze?

Nice restoration Joe. The only suggestion I have for you is to order a sweet handle from Zavod44 with the inlays for the lid bale.
Love my Outrider.
It doesn't see much action due to having so many cookers in the rotation but love smoking a couple slabs of babybacks on it once in awhile. Super efficient for low and slow.

Found a picture of mine.
Mine being replaced was much more of a necessity than yours. I had the plastic handle on mine. Your original wood one seems to be in nice shape.

Nice job getting it straight. While the Outrider wasn’t on my radar, I now want one.

I've said it numerous times, but I'll say it again.
An outrider is a really decent height to sit nearby in a lawn chair, with a beer, and not even have to get out of the chair to lift the lid & flip some burgers/chicken/etc.
