Grate cost for 26.75?
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:20:20 AM »
Anyone know what a grate should cost for a 26.75?  I'd like to put a 2nd grate in a drum I am building.  I haven't talked with Weber yet but they seem a bit steep on Amazon.

I only paid 50 bucks more for the Craycort!

I like those but I'm looking for a 2nd grate for a drum smoker, I don't need anything that nice.  LOL

I did bookmark that site for other projects though.  Thank you for the link!

* thread jack question I've been meaning to ask *

When did Weber begin providing the 26 with a stainless steel cook grate?

Was it when the model was reintroduced into the current design (non flat top) , or more recently? Thanks!

Take this from someone that has an 85 gallon Drum and been using the solid (non-flip) 26" grates from Weber, while it might seem like a good idea to use 2 grates in a drum, the meats on the lower grate will act as a huge heat sink and you'll end up having to rotate the grates. In doing so, the lid being open for the length of time you'll get that firebasket stoking and have to deal with hot temps not to mention the grease from the meats on two racks that can and will cause grease flareups or a fullblown fire in the bottom of the can.

just sayin'

@swamprb, thank you for the info!   I have never put a 2nd rack in a drum so this was going to be the 1st.  Mostly my wife talking me into added the 2nd shelf.

Sticking with one shelf.
