Help Please
I have a Performer, not sure of the age. I bought it new, years ago. I'm thinking 1999 or 2000 .The ash catcher ring has came apart. It looks like it was spot welded together ???
My issues is purchasing a new ring. I've tried Amazon & Weber. With no luck. At Weber I was dealing with customer service.Having a person to talk too at Weber Would help I thought.
Weber has sent me twice. Part No. 65143 it's a new ring & ash catcher. I'm thinking instead of telling me they don't make it any more, they just send me what they have. Regardless it doesn't work
the ash catcher is totally different
It's even different than my newer 22 inch Kettle
I'm I out luck ?

What is the letter on your Performer's lid vent?  That will tell you exactly what year your kettle is.

As for ash catchers, they are still available:

I recently purchased the new style ring and pan for $24.99. It was a direct fit, onto the bowl from a SS Performer of similar age.

Are you trying to find a replacement, that is identical to the original "1999-2000" part?

Eric, it may be important between 1999 & 2000.....

Check into these people:

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/weber-charcoal-grill-parts-c-193079_193086.html

Low on the page it says "before 2000"....so find your date code on the lid vent 1st......click "Age Guide" at the top of this page in the gray bar & see which year.......hopefully that will get you the right one......

Looking at the ereplacement parts page, it is that same number that Weber is giving you, though......

And, this individual page:

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ash-catcher-assembly-p-1477085.html

says this: *This part replaces obsolete part #: 85531, 85527 and 63093.

It may be that the older ones are not available.....hope that's not the case.... :'(

Added: If you're able to take a pic or two, that may help.....if not for I.D. then a possible way to fix it.....

Not sure how the older ones were put together but mine is rivoted together.

If it is still in good shape other than it came apart, can't you just use a couple small flat head screws with nuts to put it back together?
Drill a couple of small holes, make sure the bolt heads are flat, and won't rub on the ash catcher when you turn it to take it off. Put the nuts on the outside of the ring, cut off the screws if they are to long.

I have a 2008 C&B Performer and did just this as one of the rivets was broken.  Worked like a charm...
