OUCH! Please don't, corn bags will play havoc on the legs and bowls... :) Plus all Grilefella's can hit a 13" hole, not a challenge...
i might make it.
i'll bring the kubb
I'll be in further North Norcal. Nephew is graduating from Humboldt State that weekend. If anything changes, I'll show.
Sounds like fun. I hope everyone brings a grill or two to show off!!! Can't wait, wish I could make it.
There is a good chance that I will be there. I have to attend an important event right around there, but not exactly sure what day it will fall on until further notice. So until I find out please count me in. :)

In addition to the activities listed in Gummi's post, the park also has a frisbee golf course for those interested and a very nice hiking trail that leads to a great view of the Napa area. I will be bringing the corn hole set as well so we don't have to use SJ's to throw beanbags into. Plenty to keep us entertained.
Working on a carpool for the Sacramento area WKC gang. Bringing a large flatbed trailer to haul as many kettles to the event as possible! Please PM me if you are looking for a ride.
I would encourage any "guests" of the WKC that would like to meet the WKC members and see some cool kettles to join in the event - we would love to have you there! Cost is $5 per carload to get into the park.
Mark your calendars for May 17th!

In that case, don't forget the lube!
Leave the Butt Rub at home, please.
I don't know what to say about all this, but the Mid Atlantic Meetup is certified G-rated / Family friendly. (No, not the West Coast kind of family friendly! :o)

Hey Winz, let's wait a day or two for the straggler RSVP's then let's send out a separate email with our phone numbers in case people get lost or find a vintage colored kettle en route and need an agent. ;D

This guy's riding INSIDE WITH A SEATBELT......RIGHT?
PS: I've got two Brownies we can flank him with......then the Performers stacked up to the side or just behind & fill in the blank spaces with all the other colors?
I pcture some kind of arc (ark?) of kettles.......... 8)
Hey me & Lance have already been talkin' food somewhat......any thoughts?
Folks joke about bacon being a food group....I take this seriously...... ;D
I got Zukes, asparagus & corn mostly figured out.....perhaps tri-tip.........a pan of beans could be made up & go hot on-site.......
PLENTY of versions of 'Turds.........
Deep Fried Tater Salad..........broccoili slaw.....all the hits keep rollin' ......Do or not do?
L was thinking maybe some ribs & also had some other ideas.....Gummi's doing the skewers.....
What else?
Oh, and I'm bringing smoke woods & some empty boxes so folks can pick & choose & take various kinds home with them.......
I am doing a Paella on the kettle
Winz
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OK, sweet........just wanted to map things a little so there isn't ten tons of stuff leftover.......we can & will send leftover pans home, I'm sure, but how much overkill?
I also though of pork butt, done over the nite before & hot held, as that would be too long of a cook..............
Not to volunteer people, but Mirk was saying he has lamb & that was a possibility.......roti anyone?
Would you want to do paella in an original Weber wok, or are you more comfy with your standard pan?
I can bring a roti and vacuum sealer if one of you guys has an inverter or generator. I was thinking a pineapple upside down cake on the kettle would make a good dessert. :)
QuoteWould you want to do paella in an original Weber wok, or are you more comfy with your standard pan?
Going with the Paella pan, but please bring your wok along. I have never seen the original one.
QuoteI can bring a roti and vacuum sealer if one of you guys has an inverter or generator.
If you are serious, let me know. Can throw the generator, and a long extension cord on the trailer and bring it along.

Ha, the only way this could get better is if she said "well since you're up there anyway, bring me back some wine!"
The wife just doesn't really do crowds of new people.......if it's fast friends, hardly any problem.......just a quirk of some kind..........she did help cleaning up after my whirlwind & offered to bake a watermelon cake.......sound good?
Best cake I've had.....................maybe ever.................. ;D

There were several turd recipes on that grill.
Alfonso,
I'm very happy to have talked you into weber kettle cooking (the bug is set) and then you start your own collection that the guys really liked.
For the rest of you guys I have to say man you guys sure know how to get those webers to cook some great food and very different styles. It was all delicious!!! I tried tried to sample everything that came off the grills.
I had a great time, perfect day and a great group of people to meet. It was fun to put a face and name to all these guys: Gummi, 1Buckie, WInz, Dazzo, Argentflame, MIrkwood and yes my friend Alfonso (sorry about all the grief gave you, I will be better next time).
Thanks again, I hope we do this again.

Well......I was going to do bacon wrapped bacon rings, but I had some extra onion......

I'll count on Gummi to properly document the events of the day, but I do remember this. It was taken just before argentflame's massive ranch kettle consumed all of the kettles in front of it in three big bites.
Lots of color there - even the blackie was wearing red.

This past weekend I was lucky enough to be a part of the the first annual (or when we feel like it) NorCal WKC meet. 8 Grillfellas from the Bay Area and Sacramento got together to do some cooking and talking about bbq and Webers. Our event was held in Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa, CA right in the heart of wine country. There was enough food to feed us for a week, and our members brought their very own prized kettles. For me getting people together is really what the hobby is about. Whether it's cooking for you small or large family, your friends, or even complete strangers, there's nothing like making good memories on a Weber kettle. Thank you for everyone that came out and participated and special thank you to Winz for helping to coordinate the event. It was truly an honor.
I'm a pictures kind of guy, so I hope you enjoy this photo set.
Gummi
The event started bright and early. Napa was 1-2 hours away from some grillfellas and they needed to pack up first. We wanted to get to the park early to set up camp. This is the back of Argentflame's van loaded with his RK, some of Gummi's kettles, and a whole bunch of food and accessories

We were the first to arrive and promptly unpacked. Shortly thereafter, Winz and his Weber war trailer arrived. He woke up at 6am and drove to Sacramento to pick up 1Buckie and Mirkwood. And what a sight it was!
Imagine if you saw this rolling down the highway. WTF.

Pins 'n' needles here folks.....we're on pins 'n' needles.......... 8)
I'm tired. I'll finish the rest tomorrow. :D
Jealous.
;)
Wow, looks like a great time was had by all! Wish I could've been there.
Food looks fantastic and kettles galore! Some of those photos of Winz, Buckie and Mirkwood pulling up with that trailer are awesome! I'd probably drive my truck off the road if I saw that pass me on the highway! ;D
Awesome pics too Gummi! I love Argent Flame's ranch and Dazzo's yellow/green mbh switch pic! Alfonso's table setup is badass too!
All the food was really good, the paella was visually stunning & had great flavors, all the different kabobs were great, the desserts, the seafood, the snacks, but the two winners for me were the pancit & the ribs.....pancit because it was cooked on the only kettle gasser I've ever seen in the only other original wok I've ever seen & tasted great......Dazzo was so together on this I didn't even bother firing my wok up !!!!!
The ribs weren't the slightest bit oily, just pure, smooth, tender, all taste & an interesting cookup to watch, really from both of these guys.....I was set up right between them & that was one of the coolest things of the day, watching folks like this attend to their craft !!!

Funny you should say that, we had to stop at a produce "stand" on the way down and as we were leaving we drove past
a couple that were lurking by their truck and the man looked up at us and I read his lips as he said holy shit and then gawked
at the kettle fest going by. I had a pretty good chuckle at that. 8)
Wow, some real masterchefs there!
What a day and what a feast!! Great to see everyone out enjoying themselves. And Buckie i don't think I've ever said this to another man before but i'd love to eat one of your turds!!!
As usual great work with the camera L
Gummi...great pics.
Too all the members that made all that amazing looking food...SUPER JOB! It all looked so good. Wish I was there to meet you and sample it all.
That trailer loaded with kettles was awesome. I can only imagine what people thought when they saw it pass by.
All 8 of you are invited to the Chicago meet...to make food and serve us! :)
Thanks for the comments guys. Last but definately NOT least are the kettle pics. Enjoy!

That's all folks!
Wow! Where to start... At the beginning I guess
Gummi - thanks for the idea and for providing us an excuse to get together with the Spring (or whenever we want to) West Coast WKC meet. I vote for "whenever we want to" from now on. It sounds like the local Weber folks want to get involved - I sent you an email to that effect. Good job.
It was an honor to ride herd with Buckie and Mirkwood in the "kettle train" from Sac to Napa. To be honest, I am going to need a bigger trailer as we left the VAST majority of Buckies collection behind. That said, it was a great trip up and back with no kettle casualties along the way. I would ride with these guys any day.
What a great time we had with all the members we had not yet met. Because of the time spent on this forum, it seemed like we had known each other for a long time and were simply reuniting. Everyone contributed to the food, conversation, and fun. We educated a few visitors as well, and hopefully created some new Weber customers. I know we all left with new, deeper friendships.
For the record - Argentflame and I won 3 out of 3 corn hole matches and each took home a bag of KBB as a prize. We will happily defend our crown at the next meet.
Speaking of Argentflame - that ranch kettle was one of the most impressive sights of the day. It was the first time I have seen one in person - what an amazing cooking beast it is. You can literally have 3 people cooking on it at the same time very comfortably. Awesome!
The food was incredible. I ate so much that I had to lay down in my recliner from time to time. I am in awe of the cooking skills of this group.
Gummi - the pictures are, as always, the best! In case I have not told you lately, you have skills. Thank you my friend for capturing the moment.
Cheers,
Winz
Well said Winz!
Although, I want an American Cornhole Association representative to verify the wax consistency between the two corn hole platforms before the next tournament :o

The pleasure was all mine. And Winz speaks the truth-

Slippin' & aslidin'.....long-about a Saturday nite.............they did seem somewhat different as viewed thru my bacon-induced haze................. 8)
Simply Amazing!
First great job guys! Big points for the color and diversity. The food looked excellent and more than likely the best yet at any WKC meet, but hey it's California what did you expect, Sassage!?. ;) I also like that trading table and Alfonso's yellow with table and shelf is also a first seen anywhere other than the old catalog. Buckies Watermelon Cake, turds and awesome shirt collection were really cool, but it's the cooking demo he gave that brought forth the true Weber legend that he is. That trailer Winz brought Mirk and Buckie in loaded down with kettles was top notch. Man! Would I have loved to have some of those fresh oysters that Argent brought. The picture of them next to that paella was mouthwatering. Dazzo's gasser with OG wok put out some first class pancit.
A special thanks to Lawrence for organizing that incredible meet.
There's more to come, stay tuned. 8)
It was so much fun. We should do another meet as we have missed some members that were not able to make it. This is the first meet to show 4 Performers. Thanks for mentioning that to me Gummi. Just amazing.
Friggin awesome!!!!!. Looks like it was a fun time. With all that good food, hope no one got "food drunk", man it looks good! Nice job guys. Sweet pics Gummi

It was a blast and I'm so glad I went. My friends wanted me to go drag racing but I said I had a WKC event to go to! Yes Winz and ArgentFlame you are the winniers, I'm with Dazzo that something was up with the surfaces ( wax consistency) yes we need to be the officials from corn hole platforms. It was allot to play. Man that truck looks great behind Winz!!!! It's got a hemi.
Thanks again Gummie and I had a great time looking over the shoulders of all the cooks 1Buckie, Mirkwood , Winz,Dazzo and Argentflame.

Nice! Wish I could have been there. Killer assortment of grills and food. You guys could have fed an army that day!
