Anybody know?
I can state unequivocally before 1979 as I have one made then.
Late 60's I'm guessing, but better Weber historians than me will chime in.
The Galley Que was in 1960, and the Smokey Joe was in 1961.
I'm an SJ fanboy and the oldest one I know of is the Speckled Steel Legged Joe. (sounds like a rare bird) ;)
1957 I believe. Behold. 8)

That would be truly amazing, but.............
"This Photo Has Been Removed"
ImageSnatch................Snatched up another one...... :o
Imageshat! I can see it can anyone else? I think it's yer puter. ::)
Nothing showing up on my iPhone...
The Duke speaks the gospel according to Weber, 1957.
Works for me, on my Mac non-mobile, hard wired beast. (but looks great on my 30" monitor...)
I can see it...
Don't know......had a total blowout on the 'puter late last week.....overheated capacitors was the diagnosis.............................they replaced a bunch of them Tuesday......maybe the one that filters ImageShat's stuff got left out?
It's probably just me.....the machine is from the last century.....the camera I use cost $25 on Amazon or Ebay or somewhere....it's from the 90's too, I think......
I always thought that if the hosting site said no dice, it was moved or deleted......?
Well ill check it out on the laptop in a bit.
Edit: It works.
Shaun, i have a question about that speckler with a wooden handle.
If it were in fact from 1957, that would mean wooden handles that look like the ones from 1964 kettles were on it. That seems a little strange to me, given the shape of the handles are sort of tailored to a full size kettle handle (with two attachment points) and not the offset early joes.
Am i making sense? Were wooden handles really on joes for seven years before thye showed up on bar b kettles?

Yes your making sense. Weber must have used a shot of a later SJ in their timeline photo. The 1960 SJ and Galley Que were metal handled.
Yeah, 1963 for wood seems more reasonable on the SJ. Flamencos released in 63 had wood handles right, which would coincide better with the wood handle introduction.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Anyone have a pic of these 'metal handled' SJs?
(I think I just found my next 'must have') 8)
