Although Mod Month is a year round thing, I like the idea of an annual celebration of all the ways members refuse to leave well enough alone. Well, that and I like coming up with a poster each year. 8) For those who have not been around, here are the first four posters I did, going back to October 2014 - the first official Mod Month:

This year, I'm back again with another one for the unofficial Mod Month. I like to tap into popular culture, and I think this one captures the WKC spirit we all share. Hope you like it!

The second poster is my favorite. Are there any guidelines for Mod Month?
No rules. Anything goes. If you change a leg cap from white to black, that’s a Mod. Do what you like. Experiment. Have fun. Screw up. Start over. Share your mods year round, but October was made for mods. Share ‘em here, but post them on the mods forum too. Mod once, post twice!

Love the posters.
I did a simple mod that's not new but new to me. I drilled and added bolts to the roti ring and used the ring and water bowl out of the 18 wsm to turn the performer into a full indirect smoker.

That was my motivation. This adds a lot of versatility imo.
My ribs got a lot darker than I wanted. Maybe a combination of cooking at 300ish for three hours and the sugar in the spritz. No wrap either. The flavor and texture were great though so I can't complain. I need to dial it in a little.

I wanted a hook to hang my OXO tongs on when I got my 2nd gen performer. So I got some SS hardware at the hardware store. They didn't have a hook, but they had a eyelet. Cut it into a hook. Had to file the top of the slot just a little to fit the hook. Smoothed the edges of the cut, and we are in business.

We're mid-way through Mod Month, and I'm about the same with my mod for the year. Something we have probably all thought about, and it's really quite easy. How many times do you find that a single 22.5" kettle isn't quite enough, or you have two completely different things to cook, but wrangling two separate grills is just too much hassle? What if you could have two grills in one cart? What if that cart was a classic SS Performer? What if one was an 18.5"? Well, it's not a fantasy, it's becoming reality:

Custom wide SS brackets do the job nicely:

Plenty of clean-up and fabrication left to do, but I'm jazzed how it's coming together.

My daily workhorse. Built as a novelty but turned out to be much more functional than I've ever imagined. Dual gas assist utilizing a single regulator and a single igniter.

I could tell from your previous posts that you're very handy so you really don't need my help. Actually not including touch up paint dry time, it took less than 2 hours to complete the grill.
Foursome Canadian MT collection + Red my way.

Today is the last unofficial day of the unofficial 2018 Mod Month. Thanks to all the creative brains out there, whether you posted here or anywhere else. I don't always mod kettles, but when I do I prefer Mod Month. Keep calm and mod on!
