One thing I don't have is a set of charcoal baskets. For those that have used both, is there any functional difference between the new style baskets that can be had for $16 on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Weber-7403-Char-Basket-Charcoal-Briquet/dp/B000WEMGM4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1518883142&sr=8-2&keywords=weber+charcoal+basket) and the old school wire baskets? Thanks in advance,
I have and use both. The newer style hold more charcoal but also have a larger footprint. I use my wire baskets for hot n fast vortex style and they work great. They're a little taller than the aluminum ones.

Actually , I think there were 2 different heights available on the wire baskets...someone else might know for sure

Yes, I have one wire basket that is the same dimensions as the current stamped aluminum baskets. I'll see if I can locate the comparison pics that I have.

The stamped ones are more useful but the wire baskets have more soul.

X2 Well put, gummi. The wire baskets have a cooler vibe. I have both and prefer old school stuff.
This is one area where I prefer the new model. I think I had the high version of the old baskets and I disliked how close they sat under the grate.
The Kettle Pizza folks have a basket that is like the newer Weber basket, but They are stainless steel...

Easily my favorite of all options....and I've owned original wire baskets & the new weber aluminum baskets.

I agree with @crowderjd. I have the taller set and they sit to close for me. However if that's what's in the kettle I'm using I use them.

There you go. My comparison pix, as well as
@SixZeroFour's are found in that link. Good detective work,
@Scott Zee!
