I know i have posted about getting a Happy Cooker,today i had the chance to clean it up and tighten up the bowl.
The bowl was wobbly so i took the handle out and lifted the internal ash catcher so i could get at the nuts so i could tighten them

After that i cleaned the ash catcher,
@Idahawk do you know if the ash catcher is supposed to be attached to the lifting rod?

Whoa! My red 18" Happy Cooker has 3 legs and a triangle like a Weber and doesn't have a lid bail. Does have the internal ash pan though. http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/redhead-18'-happy-cooker/ Very cool!
@1911Ron
On the pedestal style , you adjust the entire ash pan with the control knob up or down to regulate the heat , so yes the rod attaches to the ash pan :)
Good luck and keep me updated :)

@Idahawk does your HC have the grate straps for the cooking and charcoal grate? Mine does and was wondering why it would have both as it has the internal ash pan?

All mine came with two grates , the lower grate keeps your charcoal up and out of the ash where they can be snuffed out in some cases and also to protect the pan from high heat is my guess .

Mine has two grates also but thought it odd that it had the charcoal grate strap.
