Model History?
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:51:03 AM »
Hi, I'm new to Webers and wanted to learn all about the history of each model. I was hoping there was a wiki page somewhere that I could see what was changed each year, what colors were available, etc. Does such a place exist?

I have a black Performer Platinum I bought last July from Amazon.com. Is the 2014 model exactly the same but with new colors? What was the first year they used these grey handles?

Welcome, or welcome again, if I have said so !!!

This place pretty much is the wiki
page, actually........just that it's all through the pages & information is added as it is gathered.....

Some of the older stuff is speculation & the history gets re-written as we find out......

In the middle of this page are some of the larger posts (most visited) and it can be reached by clicking the [More Stats] link down low on the main FORUM page.......

Other pages of interest might be any of the showoff threads on this page, in the "Technical Reference Library at the top of Kettles & Accessories

http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/weber-kettle-technical-reference-library/

Some things like the history are on the main page:

Click the word Menu at the top right of the page & click "Age Guide"
"If you want it fancy there is BBQ spray paint at home depot for that. "
    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

Welcome. 2014 Performers are exactly the same as the previous 2013 model. No changes except for new colors copper and crimson red. 2013 color line up: Black, green, blue, brick red. 2014 color line up: Black, green, copper, crimson red.

Wood handles were discontinued in 1999, plastic handles 2000 - present. Hope this helps.
This is the original Weber kettle. The most powerful bbq grill in the world and can blow your taste-buds clean off! So, you have to ask yourself one question: "Do you feel hungry? Well, do you punk?"

And to add on to what ramsfan said, I think they started using the darker gray plastic handles sometime around 2011ish? +/- a year.  Before that it was white plastic handles.

Awesome Craig. This needs to go in the "weber age guide" section
