This is the kettle my ol lady picked up from Maxbobcat. Thanks again. Wish I could have been there also to meet a fellow WKCer.

I imagine this little buy has some stories to tell. I know it has traveled a ways to my possession. Beaten, battered and mistreated. Like a "redheaded" stepchild. LOL.

Today I attempted to save the Battered Redhead (there is a wife joke in there somewhere).

Here is what the cooker looked like when I obtained it.

Rough life indeed. Being that colored kettles are few and far in Texas, I wanted to save one.

This is where I am at so far.

I still need to paint the lid, reattach the handle, vent, and other bowl handle. I robbed the leg kit from the Grandpa kettle so I need another. Preferably a period correct leg kit for a Pat Pend.

Not a bad rescue, so far!  She's definitely got some life left in her...

Awesome job!  I am glad she has found a new home.  Keep up the good work.  Once you get her all fixed up, I want to see some pictures of the first cook!   ;D

You have a lid?  is it a kettle lid or a Performer lid?  I need the handles for a Performer lid - a bit taller than a kettle lid, but I am too lazy (disabled) to just make one.  What cha got 8)?

Looks great! Like others have said, that lid looks like it was never dented, much less crushed!  Keep up the great work!  Can't wait to see it finished!

I'm not sure that it looks like it was never dented, I was thinking it actually looks like it was run over by a truck.....Oh and I still have the lid you need to make this look almost new......
