That's a good idea.
Looks like a broiler pan from a range.

Cajun Stacker, Cajun Bandit and WSM use similar heat deflectors as you probably know.
I think Cajun uses a pizza pan.

Hmmm....
A guy could go to the restaurant supply house, grab a pizza pan of the correct diameter and bolt it to the bottom of a kettle grate.
Probably would want to spacer it down a couple of inches so the smoke and goodness can circulate.
Line it with aluminum foil for easy clean up.
Do the Minion method for a nice long burn.

cajun stacker uses an air-bake pizza pan.
cajun conversion kit uses a giant water bowl

groker seems interesting and affordable.
Smoking on a Weber is ALREADY EASY though

Heres another add on smoking product for the weber kettle.  I like the idea (have actually been using a similar method) but it seems like it would be awfully hot (boiling?) with a chimney of lit coals underneath (see instructions).

Yeah, good point G. Wouldn't you end up with steamed ribs? Maybe not, but according to the instructions you put a chimney full of unlit and another full chimney of lit. That would put the coals almost touching the thing.
