I picked up my first 18.5" kettle last night.
« on: October 28, 2013, 10:08:21 AM »
I was driving home from my mother's birthday party when I saw it sitting on the curb for trash pick up. I pulled a U-turn and threw it in the back of my truck. It's a N (1991)code 3 wheeler in faded black with wood handles. It had an aftermarket cooking grate and was missing the charcoal grate. The lower vents seem to have been replaced at some point because they were bolted on. It was too dark to get a really good look at it. Now I have to find somewhere to put it.

Just an FYI, Weber bolted the bottom vents on some basic grills. I am thinking it was int he 90's, but don't have the exact dates.  I have never seen it done on any color other than black. Anyone?
Its good, as the vents an be easily replaced. Its bad, casue the bolts always rust out!
The last of the 3 wheelers for sure. It will make a great cooker.. 8)
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

I had an "N" daisy and did it not have the bolted vents. I'd actually prefer them to be bolted for ease of use and disassembly.

EDIT: actually now that I think of I can't remember if they were riveted or just rusted to hell.

And, a P code Sears three wheeler  with screw vents as well.  I am fairly certain it was a rebranded weber, post Unarco tooling sale to Weber.

Here it is. Just a plain jane black 18.5. I'll clean it up eventually. There's a couple of dings and paint missing on the lid but I'll put it to good use.

Nice save and you can't beat the price. That one will clean up to be a nice little cooker.

Nice pickup. I am always on the lookout this time of year . Many towns have their bulk pickup and there is some nice stuff to be had. Even nicer that I have a pickup now!
