Budlight upgrade

Got an ash catcher assembly in the mail today. Thank you G! So I slapped it on and now my Budlight is somewhere between a silver and a gold. Debating on adding a thermo. Originally I didn't want to drill because it's a logo lid, but w/the dings on the rim, it's not pristine, so I may go ahead and do it. And without further ado...

Very nice! No worries about drilling it. You can even add the OEM weber one if you want it to look factory.

I am not sure if i have asked this before, but does drilling it not cause the enamel to flake?

I've been thinking about doing a thermo and lid holder mod for a one-off master touch.
would this holder...

and this thermo/bezel
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/thermometer-kit-p-1477396.html
work w/my AU Budlight? from what I can tell it seems like they would, but I don't want to fork over the cash if there's some odd reason they wouldn't.

from the posts I've seen regarding drilling, the general rule is to mask off the area w/blue painters tape, start small, don't rush it and work your way up. do that and no issues.

That's the thermo I bought and installed on my wsm. Worked great. Like u said tape it off start small and work up. I only drilled one hole. I just flattened the little tab ad tightened it well. So far so good.
