Brian, do you still "wok this way"?
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:10:27 PM »
Or, does the picture below have a familiar "ring" to it?  :)

So, one year on do you still use this system of setting a wok directly on a WSM ring?  Anyone else try this method?

Thanks buddy.  I remember thinking at the time it was brilliant, but never following through on it.  If you had it to do over, would you go for that large of a wok again?  I am thinking I might use an 18 for my wok cooker, and in that case might opt for a wok in the 22 range.

I would get a smaller one and use it the same way.  I think the 22 inch wok was $20.....

You could do the "Duke Mod" & fix up some of those clips that sit on the lip of the kettle & then use a regular carbon steel wok.....

I'll see if I can find the thread, but it's an oldie..... ::)

Here you go Craig ~~~>

That is the point craig.  A plain ol wok works with the WSM ring mod. No need to find a weber wok...any one will do.

The duke mod is cool but I like the simple stability of using a charcoal ring.

Being able to spin and rotate the wok and toss the food is the best part about not having the brackets welded to it. And woks are super cheap!

This is a cool idea! I notices they have about every size wok you could want. Even a 24 inch which would appear to match the weber size pretty close.

Will the wsm ring from an 18 or 22 work equally well with that setup?

Ok, same question as blue smoke, what size ring? Also if the 26" ring fits perfectly on your 26", Brian, would a 22" wok sit in a 22 the same way?
