Hi, I just acquired a M (1991) MT that I want to restore. If you are willing I have a couple of questions.
Did you restore or replace the vent/ash pan assembly. If replaced, how did you modify the current version to mount on the MT?
Did you repaint or re-enamel the kettle? If painted, what kind of high temperature paint did you use (I need green). If you re-enameled where did you get it done?
This is my first save/restoration so I need a lot of help. Thank you.

Hi, I just acquired a M (1991) MT that I want to restore. If you are willing I have a couple of questions. Great Score congrats
Did you restore or replace the vent/ash pan assembly. If replaced, how did you modify the current version to mount on the MT? The old sweeper assembly is not available. You can get a new ash can holder and sweeper assembly from Weber. You will need to ben the tabs to match the leg sockets and then drill them thru to accept a #8 sheet metal screw. Do this after the legs are attdched or you won't get them in after.
Did you repaint or re-enamel the kettle? If painted, what kind of high temperature paint did you use (I need green). If you re-enameled where did you get it done? I used 500 degree Red engine enamle from Auto Zone for touch up on the leg socket area only. I never retouch the kettle lid or bowl. The enamel leaves a mat finish. No were I know of to get it enameled

From time to time parts do turn up.  I had an old crossbrace, ashring & pot assembly that I didn't need.  Now another club member has them and everyone is happy

Here's the last installment to this project. This is an early 70's Red Statesman. I added new grates, leg set, and a wood handle. I'm still waiting for the whitewall decals for the original rubber wheels. Had to fix a really bad socket, but it came out great. May I present............Red Skelton
