Many thanks to Terry for helping me secure my 1st Red Head Weber. Iv'e wanted one since
Al Bundy grilled on his roof with a Red Weber to get away from Peg!!! From what I can tell
it must be around a 68. The vent says Patent Pending. Maybe you guys have some insight.
All I need to do now is find some vintage wheels for it!! I thought about purchasing a whole
lower half kit for it, what do you guys think is that sacrilege?

P.S. Cooking on a 3 wheeler is a PITA if you want to adjust mid cook, this grill will be awesome
for smoking or grilling. The only caveat is to set her up correct from the start. I have to say Weber
did the right thing by going to the One Touch system, I can truly understand the benefits now. Not to
say I don't love this one just different. i will have to learn the ins and outs of cooking on it.

This was the first cook on it, a meatloaf. Crazy as it sounds it came out better on the Red Weber. Wife
said it was the best one yet. Apple Wood Smoked Meat Loaf. Moist, Juicy and very flavorful. The Red Weber
has lifted my grilling abilities above mere mortals.  ;)

That's great to hear, Brian!! Glad you got what you wanted.
A '68, eh? Heck that's older than me ... by a year.  :D
Enjoy it ... You will find yourself staring at her a lot ... seriously!  ;)

Side note: I'm still waiting on another response regarding that Red NIB. The ad is still up, so that's promising.  :)
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Glad you enjoy that redhead Brian! Looks great. Go ahead and put new legs on if you'd like. Can't fault you for that.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

My $.02 on that --- Before you do that, try a clean-up of the original parts first.  You might be surprised how well they turn out.
Here's a thread on my red MBH clean up and how well the legs/ash pan came out.  I'm happy to have the original parts.

That's a pretty clean and nice looking redhead! And a patent pending to boot. :D IMO The 3 wheelers grew on me from a cooking standpoint, I was all about one touch at first, but I now prefer cooking on the 3 wheelers, I recently picked up a very wise tip to cook super old school with only 1 of the daisy vents open. I've done chicken thighs that way and also my burgers (direct cooking) believe it or not.. My One Touch kettles are my teams bench warmers unless I'm in the mood or want to rotate.

As for the parts, Patent Pendings (Nov 1968-Nov. of 1970) had 3 different wheel styles depending on when they were made. First the metal wheels and rubber treads (could have had either metal or plastic hubcaps) next, plastic rims w/ rubber treads, plastic hubcaps, or 3rd, all early plastic (1970-1975 style) So if you want period correct, you have some options. What kind of wheels are there now? Couldn't make them out in the pics. I'd keep the twisty ash pan, not only for period correctness, but for functionality, as they sit up closer to the bowl and don't spill ash as easily as the lower clip mounted full disc pans. Just some input. Congrats on the score!! She's a beaut!! Pretty nice kettle karma too, Terry!!

In my perfect world (and with more room for storage), I would definitely keep a 3-wheeler in the stable for careful cooking.  Nothing like that air flow control you get with three independently adjustable vents.  When I've cooked on a 3-wheeler, I've been very impressed.

Nice work, Terry!  Great to see some teamwork and kettle karma a-flowing.
One of the charcoal people.
