Why would they have hooks that couldn’t be used??

Sent from my iPhone using Weber Kettle Club
The hook bracket fits in a channel in the plastic handles.  Check the pics these are replacement wood handles from Brian.  I didn’t know if the real wood handles would accept the hook bracket.

I have noticed and this may be the case with all  the grills that the top of the handle frame is always not fully coated. All of the shots of
the new 70th's that I have seen also exhibit this trait. I understand the bottom of the leg holders also has this issue but this
is due to manufacturing and isn't seen once the one touch system is installed. Doe's anyone having any insight as to why the
main handle top is not fully coated? I understand it is coated black but what I am referring to is the color layer.

@Jburns may be able to chime in as he works for Weber and is over this project.  Seems I read on FB he said that this is normal and to be expected.

I see what you mean…. I took a look and took pics of a few of mine.  My 70th green looks a little thin on top, but is green to the handle.  Both my Glen blue 26ers have good coverage.  White Master touch and a few others definitely show black undercoating.

Read this.   What you should expect with enameling.  Some black on the handle straps is expected.

That clears that up, thought it was the case but wanted to make sure. Guess that area is so
thin it's hard to get the finish to stay.

My guess is if they sprayed it again, you’ll have darker spots around the handle straps.  My $0.02.

They should include these faq lists with the owners manual.

The leg sockets can have thin color enamel, too.  They may even have smudges where the bowl sat on the sockets.

Does anyone have the 70th blue and the 26 glen blue?  I would like to see them side by side.  I ordered the Yellow and Green 70th today.  I will probably not get the blue as I have the 26" in glen blue.  Anyone know if they are the same color?

They are not the same color. Glen Blue is much darker, it’s more a sky blue where Rock N Roll blue is much lighter. I’ll grab pics later this week, mine are in two different places (moving)

If the Anniversary Edition came in Glen Blue I would have definitely bought one.  Same with the yellow if it were the vivid yellow of the 70s.  I got the diner green since its color was far away from anything I already had.

Thanks for sharing this. I actually wrote this article myself to try and answer some of these very questions. When the bowl is upside (which is how it is oriented when the spray booth operator applies the enamel) the upper side of the bowl handle strap is positioned so that it doesn't get the color enamel coat applied as easily as the rest of the bowl. This has been the case going back decades in the history of our color enameled kettles. #IworkforWeber
