I finally acquired a red limited edition 22" kettle a week ago. Took me a long time to find one, as they are discontinued. Put it together and noticed lots of little bumps in the finish of the paint. Look like air bubbles or dust, not sure. In addition the finish has an overall "orange peel" texture which I attribute to improper technique during the application of paint.

Any of you notice the same thing on yours?

Doesn't look like any of those little things will affect how it cooks!  Grill on!

My Wood Dale Easterner has a similar nub of enamel on the lid.  What bothers us now will be "character" in the future.  Grill on.

Not to downplay, but these are well known well documented/discussed issues.  This kettle had its finish applied in China and is probably the worst in Weber history.  But from the pictures you shared I would say you actually have one of the "good" ones.

I'd say that's a kettle with character. Looks good from here. I'd grill on.

Wow. Just... wow.

Cook on it, my friend... everything tastes better cooked on a Red Weber!

Yep, it's long past time to cook on this baby.
I do focus upon maintaining "attention to detail," as it was ingrained in my DNA while serving in the Corps.

Should I show some of the defects on my US made kettles?
