well having had my new weber kettle for a couple of weeks I can see I will be doing a lot more barbecuing in the future. It would be very handy to have some sort of table next to the grill. there are a few on the market but I haven't yet decided if I should buy one or make my own.

I would love to see some photos of other peoples set up for inspiration

I use vintage Woodard wrought iron bar carts for BBQ tables. You can find these for sale on Craigslist quite frequently for around $75-$100. I have contracted both Weberitis and Woodarditis.

If you want something fairly stationary you can build your own.  If you want something that can be moved at home a lot of members have taken old Genesis gassers, tossed the grill, and put a tabletop on it (you can even leave the propane sideburner to use).  I actually want to do one of these if I come across a donor gasser cheaply.  Last option that is most mobile would be some fold up tables that are either aluminum or plastic.  I also want to get some of these for just easy food table set ups or a mobile work station.
ISO: 18" & 22" Lime, 22" Cado, Plum SSP, Clean & Colored 18" for Midget Mod, and the usual Grails.

This is what I just finished.

I have a plastic fold up table that I am using now. It does the job but I really want something that looks nicer. The white plastic has marked up very easily

@WildonionAB is that slate tiles on the work surface?

it does look fantastic

I like that Woodard cart idea! I would probably do away with the glass for expanded metal.

Ceramic tile. There's a bunch of shelves on the inside. And 3" rollin casters on the bottom.

I have a Keter Unity XL that I keep between my 2 kettles. It has been a game changer for me in terms of storage and prep.

I like someone else's idea of just taking a lid off a nearby spare kettle & putting your stuff on the grate there.  But, I do sometimes use an aluminum table like this $29 Coleman that folds up & fits in one of those bags like the umbrella sort of folding lawn chairs.

I suggest making your own.
Even with basic wood-working skills, it's easy to come up with something nice.
Give it a shot!

I learned a lot over the years from my Dad.
Also acquired a bunch of his tools.

Here are a few of the side-tables that I have made...

A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I just finished building this for a 26" kettle but im sure you could adapt it to a 22" easy. I only used a drill, brad nailer and cutoff saw.
