This is controversial but imo they should get rid of the sj and the 18. The 22 would take the place of the 18 and the 26 would be the one on everyone’s patios. I don’t care what they do with the performers lol [emoji3][emoji23][emoji12]

I think you’re spot on. 2 CGAs give you 320 square inches vs 1 18” giving you 240. 2 CGAs are easier to store and move than an 18 on wheels.  I haven’t cooked on an 18 since getting my CGA. If the CGA isn’t big enough I just fire up a 22. Everyone should own at least 1 26” kettle.

I currently have an 18 that I have yet to even be tempted to use.  The 22 is just too handy and if I am on the go a CGA works just fine.  I doubt the 18 will ever be discontinued though.  I think the demand for them is much higher over seas.  Worst case scenario Weber might stop making them stateside or look to only sell limited color runs on their website.
ISO: 18" & 22" Lime, 22" Cado, Plum SSP, Clean & Colored 18" for Midget Mod, and the usual Grails.

18’s are really fun to cook on for the right cooks. I like seeing how much I can cram into them or see how efficiently I can cook something. My mini 18” master touch is one of my favorite grills.

Another possible explanation for the shortage of the 26s is, combined with the increase of cooking (and shopping) at home, the $100 off Amazon is offering to people who sign up for their credit card. Both these factors, along with this model already having limited production (relatively speaking), may have caused a spike in sales.

Good call. Hopefully they are just out of stock at the moment.

That’s good!  Maybe they did sell out temporarily. That would also be good.

I would love to get a blue 26 then convert it to either a mini ranch with swing up side tables or a gas assist performer . Or just get two and make the both.....

So I sent an email  to find out what was going on with the 26"
My message and their response 2½ months later is below.

Sent May 4, 2020, 11:54 PM CDT

26" grills are out of stock everywhere.
Why?

Thank you for reaching out to Weber.

We apologize for the delay in response. We are experiencing higher volumes of questions from our grilling community as many are enjoying more at-home dining during Covid-19. As we staff up and train team members, we want to assure you that we are working as quickly as possible to address the questions you have submitted.

- The limited-edition kettle is currently unavailable and I do not have a date in which they will again be available
- The 26" Original Kettle that you are interested in is currently not in stock, I also do not have a date for when this will be available

I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused, there is a chance that these become available again sooner rather than later, though I cannot say with 100% certainty.

This thread makes me feel like I got an even better deal on my 26! Btw, if you dont have a 26, you need one, and the hunsaker griddle.

Basically, 2.5 months to tell you they know nothing.

I’ve had a similar experience.   Weber seems to have a covid and smokefire hangover.

26" Performer in ANY color for a price that doesn't end up half the cost of a Summit and I'm there.
