I finally got to hug my Blue OTG!
I guess you could say that my parents were the "agents" on this purchase. They live much closer for pick-up.
Got it in early May for $100. New - never been used. New ones retail for $190 + tax, so this was less than half price.
Was up for the Father's Day weekend, and did some ribs the day after seasoning.

I gotta say that the blue is rather striking! I left it at their place ... maybe for the summer, then bring it home.  8) ;)

looks like baby backs, how did you cook them (times) and is that a expanded metal ring on the bottom? I've never did ribs on my kettle usually smoke in my home made barrell smoker
i almost have all my grails but waiting for that yellow to miraculously appear maybe in ny.

Yes, these were back ribs (as they are called up here by grocers). The rub was Memphis Dust from amazingribs.com.
The intakes were about a quarter to a third open for most of the cook. I opened them wide for the last hour, including the sauce phase.
These were on for a little over 6 hours. Too long, you say ... nah! These turned out fantastic! Just a slight tug on the bone.

I, too, did ribs on my UDS, and then tried them on the Weber kettle using the snake / fuse method. I love them done this way!  :D

Expanded metal ring.

you use the tin foil to help offset heat? or to help prevent burning

That's a great looking blue and a hell of a set of ribs! I dig mine cooked longer too and lower heats.

Yes, I like to use AF to help avoid any drippings on the charcoal,
as well as to help offset heat and to prevent burning. Works great! I recommend you trying this method.  :)

Nice to see another fresh blue, I really like the color.  I fortunately scored a nib (chip in lid) 22" otg blue on the bay for just over $50 last week... was a local seller so I was able to evade shipping costs. Weber was nice enough to send a replacement lid due to the dent/chip as well! Fired it up yesterday for Fathers Day and for some 2lb ribeyes. It was a good day!

I really like the "AA"s with their black ash pan & triangle. I have a green one I bought new that year. I really like it, but I must confess that sometimes I wish it was blue.
