So I'm on vacation in Washington state, and I see a nice Weber at a garage sale. I stop, it's only 5 fillers which I quickly produce. Score! It has 3 vent on the bottom bowl. The lower grate has a solid bowl with small holes around it for air that is seemingly attached to the lower grate. The top vent has no markings other than a distinct O on it. Wood handles that are oldish but still in working condition. It is a 22". Any ideas of what this is worth? It's black.

Sounds like you may have found a Happy cooker with the internal ashpan intact. Does it have double rivet bowl handles and maybe white lawnmower looking wheels?

In the Chicago area, you could probably keep the internal ashpan & sell the rest reasonably quickly for $25-$35, assuming the kettle itself is in nice shape & the legs don't look bad.  First time I've heard of "fillers" as slang.  I assume 5 fillers equals half a sawbuck.

I am far from an expert on kettle grills.  The first kettle I ever bought was from a garage sale a few months ago.  Folks on this great site provided info that I had purchase a Happy Cooker, not a weber, and it sounds very similar to the grill you found.  With further investigating, I also learned the kettle I purchased also had the internal ash pan kneab explained earlier.

These are not the greatest pictures, and I did not clean completely before taking the pictures, but below are pictures of my lower bowl with the ashpan and a picture of the ashpan alone.  If yours looks like mine, it might help start to point you in the direction of what grill you have?  Just my thoughts and two cents as a very very novice in the kettle club.

Actually, those pics are exactly what I got! So evidently I did not get a Weber. It's very similar to a Weber.

Funny, I assumed "filler" was somehow slang for a $1, like when you see a person with a big roll of cash, but it is mostly singles.  "Filler" actually seemed to make sense as slang.

the one I have the grill grate for the charcoal sit right on the IAP, and both are held up by the lower brackets.
