I understand Craycort may be the best cast iron grate, but wow is it expensive! So I am looking for an alternative that is not so pricey. Any suggestions?

Thanks-

I have a couple of the STOK CI grates.
Work like a charm but I'm beginning to hate
the removable center.  Kind a like a GBS.
The next one I buy will be the Napoleon CI.

Looks just like a cast iron hinged Weber grate would.
Seem to run about $70 at Bed Bath and Beyond with free ship.

I have the Napoleon CI; I love it, but it can be a pain to clean.

I use my GBS and Cast Iron Insert regularly....it makes a great sear & nice crispy exterior when I want one.  But, the porcelain on it burned off in the center of the grate early on and cast iron is a PITA to deal with on a grate.....constant rust and re-seasoning.  If I had to do it all over again, I would get a fat 304 SS grate....like the Killa Grilla..... @Cellar2ful has the details on it, but it looks like it has the benefits of CI without the hassle.
I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

FWIW, Craycorts usually runs a 20% discount around Father's day.

That Killa Grilla is interesting.

I am guessing the stock grates that come with the grill are chrome plated???

There are three options that I know of for SS cooking grates.

ABC Barbecue Easy Spin grate               https://abcbarbecue.com/product/22-cooking-grate/  (If you have a Slow N Sear, you'll want one of these for it)

Killa Grilla                                            http://killagrilla.com/

Weber SS grate (part #80728)              800-446-1071

They all are similar in price but each are different. I have all three and each have individual features that are nice for specific uses.  Here are a some write ups and comparisons of them.

I love cast iron cookware but I dont see the attraction of cast iron grates. I'd go ss if I were to upgrade.
