I guess the title pretty much indicates how today's gone almost, but not quite, to plan. It started off sleeping in a lot later than planned and waking up as stiff as a board from football last night. Then, going to a Canadian Tire to pick up a large firewood rack which the website claimed there were three of in stock. The reality in the store was zero. I went into the thrift store next door to see if there was anything worthwhile given I'd already made the trip and picked up a corningware pot, a bunch of CDs and an unopened record album:
Given how bland and boring and tacky Toronto was around the time this was made, I'm dying to know how bad this record is!
Anyways, I got a late start to preparing the ribs because that trip took longer than I planned. I'm doing side ribs instead of my usual back ribs. The breast bone attached to this one rack is by far the largest I've ever seen.
It was after putting the rub on the second of the two racks that I'm cooking that I realized I used the wrong rub. I'd gotten a bottle of Cluck & Squeal Rib Formula that I've been wanting to try and I picked up and used the bottle of Bold Browning by mistake. So, it'll be interesting to see what this is like on ribs and what their rib rub is like at a later date.
WSM ready to go with lots of wood.
The smoke's on and the ribs are underway.
The ribs are about half an hour away from getting wrapped up right now. I'm relaxing with the cat and a cup of tea in the living room giving the CDs from the thrift store a spin. The housework isn't getting done but it's all good, there's always tomorrow and I just want to relax and enjoy the last of the weekend.
Chicago/19's playing right now. When it finishes, it'll be time to check on the ribs. I'll post pictures as they come along.
