1981 WSM cookbook
« on: September 12, 2017, 05:16:34 AM »
Thanks to @JEBIV for this great cookbook for the 1st yr. WSM's. Joe knew I have a 1981 "C" code 18.5. He reached out asking me if I would like this cookbook that he had come across.  Joe and Tami are great people and I can't thank them enough for their generosity.  Here's some pics.

That’s great! Very interesting to see how they thought it should Be used when it was first launched.

A lot of that was directly from Erich Schlosser, the inventor (of the WSM, smokey joe, chimney, tons of other iconic Weber things).

I used to tease him about the use of wine in the water pan.  He admitted that some of the things were just ideas and filler.

I actually do use wine while smoking.  But just drinking it out of a plastic cup while dozing off and glancing at the thermometer.

As a fellow C code owner, this is pretty damn cool. Would never have thought to set it up as a steamer like that.
Still need a 22” yellow

The "weird" thing with steaming and grilling is moving that charcoal grate up to the straps in the mid-section.

Just looking at the picts that makes sense.  Are these techniques that are not promoted by Weber in 2017?

I have never owned a WSM and smoke on a kettle.
