18" OTG Question

What years did Weber produce the 18" OTG'?  I have a friend that wants me to pick up a 18" on CL and then add a new 18" ash bucket for her.  I have read posts here on the Forum that the earlier model bowl vents of the 18" will extend slightly past the ash bucket.  I would assume that any 18" produced after the OTG 18's were introduced will be fine for a ash bucket modification.  I want to make sure I don't purchase an 18" that was produced prior to the introduction of the 18" OTG.

You do realize that every so often in the Bay Area Craigslist, 18" OTG's pop up with a bucket already on them.

Yes, there were two last week. Both were gone in about 1 hour and were 1 1/2 hour drives (round trip)  for me.  There is another one currently in San Jose.  Still about a hour drive for me round trip.  Doing favors for friends and family, I try and keep my drive times a little shorter. Plus, I already have a 18" ash bucket.

I do not know what the first year of the 18" OTG was.  My 18" OTG is a DH code (2004).  I can confirm that my L code (1989) 18's vents did indeed extend past the ash bucket. Not a huge deal for me, as I only used it on a concrete patio.

My OTG is an AA code (2011). So that at least gives you a range. They had black ash buckets and triangles in 2011.

 @Bob BQ - That is a huge help.  Now I know I will be good going back to at least the 2004 (DH Code) production year . I am pretty sure once Weber changed the bowl vent designs to being shorter and wider to accommodate the ash bucket, the bowl vents have remained the same since.   Thanks for all the input guys.

Jim you need to pick up the old SWAT team van with the sirens and lights still working. That way youll have the extra capacity you need and you can cut the travel time down to almost nothing.

Great idea Ray.  It would have to be an old style armored money transport style.  More room for kettles inside and has a large side area to paint the red kettle Weber logo on the sides.

   Cellar2ful, the year 2000 was when the corrected bowl vents and leg sockets came out. I've got a 18" DD plum/maroon thats been converted to OTG, simple plug and play.
