First find: K 1988 Red?
« on: June 25, 2017, 02:22:45 PM »
Hi all,

Been reading the forums for a little while now with interest and so when I had the opportunity to get a red kettle today, I couldn't pass it up. Trying to confirm the age is an 88. It looks like it has a K on the vent but isn't the right way up.

3 wooden handles, plastic wheels with Weber logo on them.

What do you guys think? A couple of images below.

I don't think I've ever seen a 'K' that was right-side-up.  Though yours looks especially upside down.

Thanks guys. As this is my first with wooden handles, is there anything I need to be aware of. My other kettles all have plastic handles so I just leave them out in the rain, uncovered and just cover them up for winter.

The wooden handles stay much cooler to the touch than the plastic ones. Try to keep them out of the rain too since they won't hold up to the elements as well as the plastic ones. Now go fire up that redhead!!

I'll look to get a cover over it asap then. Been raining all day today so not had a chance to fire it up yet.

Kongrats on the Krooked K find!!

I think the "K" is unique enough to have it's own Klub.

The Krooked K Klub?
Nope, damn it. Acronym is ruined :(
